Travis Jackson, Co-Owner & NCCER Certified Instructor
Travis Jackson is the Co-Owner and Lead Instructor at T&L Welding Academy, where he oversees all welding training and provides guidance to the academy’s lab assistants and welding staff. A seasoned welder and educator, he is passionate about empowering the next generation of welders with the technical expertise and confidence they need to excel in the trade.

Travis began his career in 1992, earning his welding certification at TJCC in Albany, GA. He went on to become code certified in structural, bridge, D.O.T., boilers, pressure vessels, power piping, cranes, and earth-moving construction equipment. He is also operator-rated on fork trucks, overhead rail cranes, and paint sprayer applications, and is highly proficient in blueprint reading and execution.

His teaching career began at Vatterott Community College in 2014, where he advanced to Program Director before the school’s closure in 2018. He then continued his work as a welding instructor and lab assistant at Kansas City Kansas Community College in 2019. Today at T&L, Travis combines his extensive field experience and leadership skills to create a supportive learning environment where students gain both technical mastery and workplace readiness.

In addition to his work at the academy, Travis remains active in the industry through his company, T&L Welding Creations, LLC, where he provides welding services as a contractor. His commitment to training, mentorship, and hands-on instruction reflects his belief that welding is not only a career path but also a tool for empowerment and opportunity.
LaShaunda Jackson, Co-Owner & Director of Administration
LaShaunda Jackson brings more than a decade of administrative leadership to her role as Co-Owner and Director of Administration at T&L Welding Academy. She is the driving force behind the academy’s operations, overseeing all backend and administrative responsibilities including enrollment management, compliance, and student services.
​
Under her leadership, T&L has forged impactful partnerships with local organizations and high schools, opening pathways for youth and adults to access free welding training. She has also developed opportunities for students to gain valuable hands-on experience through apprenticeships and site visits with industry partners. In addition, she coordinates opportunities for students to build essential soft skills such as resume writing, interview preparation, and workplace readiness.

LaShaunda’s work ensures that every aspect of the academy runs smoothly, from program coordination to strategic outreach, allowing instructors to focus on teaching while students receive the support they need to succeed. Her commitment to building partnerships and expanding access to skilled trades reflects her dedication to empowering the next generation of welders and strengthening the local workforce.
